ER Foundation promotes health and wellbeing among communities

ER Foundation is committed to enhancing lives through inclusive development and to building stronger, more resilient communities. Health is a central focus and in collaboration with the Group’s subsidiaries and partners, ER Foundation helps bring prevention, screening, and health awareness closer to communities. As part of ER Group’s Sustainability Framework, this initiative supports the Social Inclusion pillar by improving access to prevention and essential services.
Bringing health closer to communities
Across many communities, access to screenings and prevention services can be affected by practical constraints such as distance, time, affordability and availability. Bringing screening and health awareness closer to the community can support earlier detection and make it easier for people to seek guidance and follow-up care when needed.
In October and November 2025, a series of health days were organised by ER Foundation in collaboration with PILS, an HIV/AIDS advocacy organisation, across several regions where the Group operates, namely Alma, GRNW/Pailles, and L’Escalier. With the support of several partners, the initiative offered free HIV and syphilis screenings, along with educational and sensitisation sessions led by PILS. Health professionals from C-Care also provided free screenings for diabetes and hypertension. NGOs providing prevention, care, and support services, such as AILES, Centre de Solidarité, Kinouété and Befrienders were present with awareness stands to inform participants about sexually transmitted infections, overall health and wellbeing, and the importance of emotional support, among other topics.
More than 190 people, including children, youth, adults, and seniors from the localities, benefited from this event, which offered them an opportunity to access preventive care close to home and to engage in open discussions about health.
These health days form part of the “Nou Tou Konserne” project led by ER Foundation, which focuses on sexual and reproductive health and substance use prevention, one of the Foundation’s programmes. It seeks to reach 500 individuals over the long term (2025–2035) through awareness and prevention sessions, with at least 40% of youth and adult participants expected to report a reduction in risky behaviours related to sexual practices and substance use. The project is built around two main components: community awareness sessions and peer-to-peer interventions.
“We saw strong participation from the community, which reinforced the value of bringing prevention closer to resident and promoting health at community level. Health days are among the impactful initiatives that strengthened our connection with residents and built a foundation of trust that will support our future activities. We thank all partners involved in organising of these health days, as well as our community-based partners, Alma Nou Kapav, Ansam Ver L'avenir and L'Escalier Nou Tou Ansam, who play an important role in mobilising and encouraging residents of the region to take part in and benefit from the Foundation’s activities,” said Joëlle Rabot-Honoré, Community Development Specialist at ER Foundation.
Improving access to eye care in collaboration with Helios Eyewear
Alongside its broader health efforts, ER Foundation is also supporting another essential aspect of health: eyesight. For many people, access to affordable eyewear, whether for a first pair or a replacement, can make a real difference in daily life, learning, and work.
Helios Eyewear, an ER Group subsidiary, has partnered with ER Foundation to make eye care more accessible in local communities. Through their Giveback Program, around 400 pairs of glasses have been distributed to the Foundation’s beneficiaries since October 2025, along with free educational sessions on eye health and daily protection. The initiative combines targeted support with prevention messaging, helping beneficiaries protect their eyesight and make informed choices. Optical glasses have been distributed to the ER Foundation’s beneficiaries across several regions, including Alma, GRNW/Pailles, Moka, Ste Catherine, and Telfair.
“The ER Foundation team carried out thorough fieldwork to identify beneficiaries, including individuals who already wear glasses but struggle with vision issues and cannot easily afford new frames. This careful process reflects a structured and targeted approach, ensuring that each donation creates a positive impact within the communities. Each distribution began with an awareness session on the importance of protecting one’s eyesight, helping beneficiaries understand the best practices for preserving their eye health daily,” shares Tiffany Rayar, Brand & Marketing Executive at Helios Eyewear.
Alignment with ER Group’s Sustainability Framework
By bringing preventive care closer to people’s daily lives and ensuring access to health information and services, ER Foundation continues to promote inclusive development and collective well-being, in alignment with the Group’s S&ID Framework. By combining concrete support with awareness and guidance, these actions help strengthen health literacy and everyday wellbeing across the regions in which the Group operates.
