Overview

We are looking for a motivated Operations Officer to join our Operations Team. In this role, you will be the link between our clients and our sites, making sure every landscape we look after is delivered to a high standard, on time, and within budget.

Your role

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Grow the value of our existing client base, reach out to new prospects, and support management through meetings and tenders until contracts are awarded. 
  • Plan work on yearly, monthly, weekly, and daily timelines, manage resources and machinery efficiently, and report weekly on operational and financial issues.
  • Carry out regular site visits and monthly garden audits, make sure landscaping standards are met, and manage job scheduling so work is finished on time.
  • Prepare yearly budgets, including CAPEX, track Budget vs Actual and report variances, and help prepare tenders, quotes, and contracts.
  • Handle purchase requests, plan tool and machinery maintenance, run bi-annual inventories, and manage spare parts stock.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop site supervisors and team leaders, apply health and safety procedures, set KPIs, and evaluate performance.
  • Work closely with HR on recruitment, attendance monitoring, and payroll deadlines.
  •  Follow up on debtors each month and make sure additional work is invoiced.  
  • Nursery development (when applicable): Design and set up plant nurseries, choose plant varieties, manage cultivation and growing conditions, and keep track of plant inventory.  
Your profile

Profile & Experience:

  • A diploma or degree in Horticulture, Landscaping, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance operations, including supervising teams.
  • Experience with budgeting, procurement, and tender preparation.
  • Knowledge of plant cultivation and propagation (a strong advantage).
  • Strong client-facing, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel in particular).
  • A valid driving licence.
