Are you a passionate and detail-oriented legal professional looking to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic group structure? Join us as an In-House Lawyer (Manager Level), supporting the Chief Legal & Governance Executive and contributing to the delivery of high-quality, timely legal services across the Group.

Your role
  • Provide legal advice and support on contracts, internal policies, and regulatory matters.
  • Draft, review, and vet legal documents and agreements.
  • Ensure the Group complies with laws, regulations, and internal standards.
  • Assist in the implementation of strategies for the protection of the Group's interests in the event of dispute or litigation.
  • Monitor and report changes in legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g., FSC, ROC, SEM, Bank of Mauritius).
  • Act as Data Protection Officer and/or Compliance Officer, where applicable.
  • Design and implement compliance and data protection frameworks across the Group.
  • Lead legal and compliance training and awareness campaigns for staff and management.
  • Support the development of internal policies and governance processes.
  • Champion the digitalisation of the legal department.
  • Track compliance metrics and report to management and boards.
  • Assist in budgeting and monitoring departmental performance.
  • Promote a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability.
  • Mentor junior team members and support their development.

 

Your profile
  • A qualified legal professional.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar or related role in a reputable law firm, advisory firm or group of companies.
  • Expertise in compliance, including data protection.
  • Solid and up-to-date knowledge of Mauritian laws, corporate governance, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex legal matters, liaise effectively with regulators, and oversee legal processes.
  • Excellent research, drafting, and communication skills, with the ability to present legal advice clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong ethical standards, professional discretion, and a collaborative mindset.
  • A forward-thinking professional who embraces innovation and continuous improvement in legal operations.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-evolving business environment, with a proactive approach to identifying legal risks and proposing practical, tech-enabled solutions.
