Are you a passionate and detail-oriented legal professional looking to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic group structure? Join us as an In-House Lawyer (Manager Level), supporting the Chief Legal & Governance Executive and contributing to the delivery of high-quality, timely legal services across the Group.
Your role
- Provide legal advice and support on contracts, internal policies, and regulatory matters.
- Draft, review, and vet legal documents and agreements.
- Ensure the Group complies with laws, regulations, and internal standards.
- Assist in the implementation of strategies for the protection of the Group's interests in the event of dispute or litigation.
- Monitor and report changes in legislation and regulatory frameworks.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g., FSC, ROC, SEM, Bank of Mauritius).
- Act as Data Protection Officer and/or Compliance Officer, where applicable.
- Design and implement compliance and data protection frameworks across the Group.
- Lead legal and compliance training and awareness campaigns for staff and management.
- Support the development of internal policies and governance processes.
- Champion the digitalisation of the legal department.
- Track compliance metrics and report to management and boards.
- Assist in budgeting and monitoring departmental performance.
- Promote a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability.
- Mentor junior team members and support their development.
Your profile
- A qualified legal professional.
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar or related role in a reputable law firm, advisory firm or group of companies.
- Expertise in compliance, including data protection.
- Solid and up-to-date knowledge of Mauritian laws, corporate governance, and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex legal matters, liaise effectively with regulators, and oversee legal processes.
- Excellent research, drafting, and communication skills, with the ability to present legal advice clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong ethical standards, professional discretion, and a collaborative mindset.
- A forward-thinking professional who embraces innovation and continuous improvement in legal operations.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-evolving business environment, with a proactive approach to identifying legal risks and proposing practical, tech-enabled solutions.
