In this context, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Ecological Restoration Project Assistant to join our team on a fixed-term contract basis. This position is funded through our financial partnership with the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF).
The Ecological Restoration Project Assistant will report to the Biodiversity Manager and the Head of Climate Resilience & Regeneration and will be based at Bel Ombre. He/She will assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of our pilot forest restoration project in Bel Ombre, ensuring the coordination and smooth implementation of on-site activities, within scope, and within budget. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth in the field of environmental conservation in a business environment in partnership with local and regional NGO, associations, public bodies, and donors.
Support the project team in the following activities:
• Assist in the planning and coordination of on-site activities
• Support fieldwork through site monitoring, data collection and documentation
• Maintain project records, reports and databases
• Support procurement, logistics and scheduling of project activities
• Contribute to communication materials
• Liaise with partners, local communities, and technical staff as required
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent diploma in environmental science, ecology, biology, agriculture, or related fields.
• Strong experience in fieldwork, preferably in forest restoration or land rehabilitation projects.
• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, email, data entry) compulsory. Experience with data collection or GIS tools is an advantage.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work under a strict timeframe.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of local environmental or community contexts is desirable.
• Valid driving license.
